"I WANTED TO LIVE DOING WHAT I LOVE

WITH THE PEOPLE I LOVE"

My LIFE IS A  MUSICAL, A SUCCESS STORY

Goodbye Lille, my hometown.

Hello London and the French high school in London, in which I was admitted in the "Lettres Supérieures" class.

I continue my studies in different universities, Lille, Saarbrucken (Germany), Abidjan (Africa Ivory Coast).

Still a student, I applied for a position as an English teacher at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I received a positive response and was assigned to a position as an English teacher in sunny Ouagadougou, Africa.

I sang in my class, in English of course, with my students, then on stage with an African group... First gala at the "Maison de Peuple" in front of 5,000 enthusiastic people, this gala was followed by other shows in Ouagadougou.

As I had sung at the Italian Embassy in Ghana accompanied by a group of Italian musicians, they had recommended me to their music publishing house Aldo Pagani in Milan. From the first meeting, Aldo made me record my first album in Italian.

On my return from Africa, having a large apartment with a grand piano at my disposal in Paris, I decided to organize English lessons for children, since I had experience in teaching.

I visited the bookstores in search of a method of teaching English to children. None of them appealed to me. I decided to create one in my own way, in song.

During this same period, the editor of a music publishing company who had decided to produce me, made me listen to unreleased songs in order to choose the one I wanted to record. I chose one, the editor introduced me to the composer the next day and this composer was Laurent Voulzy, unknown at the time!

While we were preparing a variety song for this publishing house, I asked Laurent Voulzy to compose the songs for my Pop English program, an introduction to English through song for children. We started to collaborate and do shows together.

Fortunately, I was offered a job as an English teacher in Pontoise... Every day I arrived in class to the applause of my students because I taught English by teaching them songs, accompanying myself on the guitar.

Invited to a party at the castle of Herouville by one of my students, she introduced me to the owner of the castle, Michel Magne.

Michel Magne is a composer of film music. He is also the owner of a recording studio.

I presented my musical project to Michel Magne and made him listen to my first demos, written and recorded with Laurent Voulzy.

Michel Magne was enchanted by this project and offered me free access to his recording studios at the Château d'Hérouville, a mythical place of international pop music, where Elton John, David Bowie, Rod Stewart, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd etc... had recorded.
12 titles are recorded, lyrics Michèle Marie, music Laurent Voulzy, interpretation Michèle-Marie, Laurent Voulzy and Ian Jelfs. These creations are released in the form of 45 rpm vinyl book-discs and are distributed by Eddie Barclays in France and in the French-speaking countries.

As soon as the 1st book-disc is released, the press is unanimous. Newspapers and magazines welcome this novelty with great enthusiasm.

Later, the songs are adapted into cartoons. Our first customer for a TV broadcast, is England, which has the "Children's Channel" Children's Channel.

The cartoons were then sold in France on VHS video cassettes and also under license in Singapore, Malaysia, Japan NHK, Korea KBS, Spain...

At the same time, I develop English lessons for children with our Pop English songs as a teaching aid.

In addition to the lyrics that I write, I start to compose myself the music of the new songs, because Voulzy, who became a star of the pop music with his title "Rockollection" does not have any more time to compose the songs of the series Pop English.

These songs have been withdrawn from the general public to be reserved exclusively for the leaders of the PE workshops, English initiation workshops for children, organized by the association Pop English Creations www.popenglish.com.

We have about 14,000 children taking our classes and singing our songs, and have been doing so every day for years.

On the other hand, when I have time, I write songs for adults. My first album is in preparation, it is called "Vive la Vie".

I sing about important moments in my life.

At the request of a promoter, Mr. Cyril Polledri, I adapted in Italian one of these songs "Perché il mondo è cosi pazzo?

This title is broadcasted by more than 150 italian radios, the video clip is broadcasted on about 100 local TV, the title is ranked 3rd in the young talents ranking, independent ranking.

To meet the demand of Italian listeners, a website in Italian is created: www.michelemarie.me

Then its adaptation in French: www.ladyMM.fr

Today, Michèle-Marie divides her time between the direction of the association Pop English Creations and a new life as a singer-songwriter in Italy.
